What is Nym?

Nym is not just another AOL Instant Messenger. It goes several steps beyond existing popular clients to provide the latest in security and anonymity. This means that no one except the intended recipient will be able to read your message. If that weren't enough, Nym's anonymous routing system means that only a few people on the network (those to whom you are directly connected) know your IP address. Finally, Nym verifies that messages are coming from the expected sender via digital signatures. See the algorithms page for more details.

What are the technical details?

Nym is written in Java 1.4.2 and can thus be run on any platform supporting Java 1.4 including Windows, Mac OS X, and X Windows in Linux.

Why did we make Nym?

Nym was the result of our senior integrative exercise in computer science for Carleton College. Special thanks to our advisor Amy Csizmar Dalal.
